Trolley Tour of Marietta
90 minute narrated tour provides an overview of the historic architecture and sites of Marietta, Ohio’s oldest city, aboard a trolley-like vehicle. All scheduled tours originate and terminate at the Levee House Cafe on the corner of Ohio and Second Streets.
Valley Gem Sternwheeler
The Valley Gem offers a unique look into river history. On one of their many lock tours you can travel up the Muskingum River and lock through Devol's Dam or up the Ohio River to the Willow Island Lock. All of these tours provide a peaceful journey on the river, a glimpse into the past, and a witness to time tested engineering. It is truly a wonderful event to experience.
Campus Martius Museum
Campus Martius, a civilian fortification, was built in 1788 by the Ohio Company of Associates. Today, the museum preserves the history of America’s migration west, its earliest native inhabitants, and Marietta’s pioneers.
Ohio River Museum
While you tour, discover the golden age of the steamboat and learn more about the ecology of the Ohio River system. The Ohio River Museum consists of three exhibit buildings, the first chronicling the origins and natural history of the Ohio River.
The Castle
The focal point of Marietta’s historic district, The Castle has been the home of some of the areas’ most prominent and influential citizens. The Castle was the site of grand entertainment and business functions during the residence of John Newton. The Castle, now on the National Register of HIstoric Places, opened to the public in 1994.
Toy and Doll Museum
Just before our nation's birthday in 1976, a group of Marietta women organized the Bicentennial Woman's Club. In celebration of the event they collected antique dolls, games, toys, and dollhouses for the public to view.
